Volunteer

Volunteer with us

Our programme relies on many volunteers who work alongside our branch managers to distribute and maintain our science resource kits. Volunteers come in many forms, from regular drivers and kit maintenance technicians, to once-a-year corporate teams.

What’s in it for you?

Personal Growth and Fulfilment: Contribute to improving science literacy among primary school students across New Zealand.

Sense of purpose: Know that your time is helping teachers and supporting tamariki to develop curiosity and critical thinking.

Pride in supporting a local cause: House of Science is a homegrown initiative, supporting it means you’re strengthening your own community.

Learn new skills: Volunteers gain experience in areas like logistics, admin, communications, and even science education.

Great for CVs: Volunteering demonstrates initiative, reliability, and community involvement, qualities valued by employers.

Networking opportunities: Connect with like-minded people.

Stay mentally active: Many volunteers enjoy the intellectual stimulation of learning new things while helping out.

Social Connections: Build friendships and be part of a supportive and passionate team.

Community spirit: Experience the satisfaction that comes from working with others towards a shared goal.
